Course summary

Study a course that focuses on employability across a broad area of computer systems.

Computer networks form the backbone of the information world, from personal mobile devices to social media and large scale corporate data services.

With this growing trend there is a high demand for accomplished engineers who can design, develop and maintain networked hardware and software.

This course focuses on key aspects of networks, computer systems and application development which will extend to database systems and human-computer interaction.

You will gain academic knowledge in areas of computer systems with the possibility to broaden your skills through a year long work placement.

GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMM

Minimum grades MMM (Merit, Merit, Merit) GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths

Access to HE Diploma - D: 6 credits M: 39 credits

Pass Access to HE Diploma in a related subject with 45 credits overall with minimum 39 Credits at Merit & 6 Distinction. Maths required at Level 2 or equivalent.

Scottish Higher - BBBB

National 5 C in Maths If you are eligible for an adjusted offer under our Contextual Admissions Policy, please see the ‘Minimum Qualification Requirements’ below.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*D

Minimum grades D*D (Distinction*, Distinction) or MM (Merit, Merit) and A Level grade C. GCSE grade C/4 in Maths.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 27 points

Award of Diploma with 27 points overall with three HL subjects at grades 6, 5, 4. SL Maths grade 4

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H2, H3, H3, H3

Grades H2, H3, H3, H3 at Higher Level. Grade O4 at Ordinary Level in Maths

Scottish HNC - Pass

HNC with C in the graded unit in any subject In addition have National 5 C in Maths

T Level - P

C or above on the core. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths also required.

Minimum Year 2 Entry Requirements

HNC - Pass in Cyber Security, Computing, Computer Networking or Computer Networking & Internet Technology with B in the graded unit.

SQA Advanced Higher - BBC.

A Level - BBB.

BTEC Extended Dip DDD in a related subject.

Minimum Year 3 Entry Requirements

HND - Pass in a Cyber Security, Computing: Technical Support, Computing Networking or Computer Networking & Internet Technology with Grades BB at SCQF Level 8 in the graded units.
