Developed in collaboration with leading global blue-chip employers, our IT Management for Business is designed to create ‘the ideal graduate’, managing the technologies driving today’s workplace and shaping the direction of organisations for the future. This course straddles the challenging middle ground between business and digital applications, combining strategic, technical, and people-focused perspectives.

The uniqueness of the course and its ability to identify crucial skills within a diverse range of industries is recognised by more than 40 employers who uphold its quality and relevance to their sectors. As technologies continue such as artificial intelligence, immersive and extended reality, data platforms, and cybersecurity continue to evolve rapidly, employers increasingly seek professionals who can understand emerging systems and lead those who use them effectively. Assessment method

Essays, multiple choice tests, project reports and presentations, in-class tests, and weekly assignments constitute the coursework component of assessment, although the nature and proportion of coursework varies across course units.

The remainder of assessment is by unseen examination.

In your final year you will complete a research-based project.

We aim to strike a balance between examinations and assessed coursework as well as providing opportunities for feedback on progress through non-assessed work.

Due to the popularity of our courses we may prioritise applicants based on the number of preferred subjects that they are studying. We may also take into consideration the combination of subjects taken. Please use the list below to check our preferred subjects for BSc (Hons) IT Management for Business:

Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Science, Economics, English Language/Literature, Geography, Government and Politics, Information Technology, Law, Mathematics/Further Mathematics, Politics, Psychology, Quantitative Methods, Sociology, Software Systems Development and Statistics.

We accept native language A Levels providing they are taken in the same sitting as your other subjects. We will not accept the combination of Mathematics, Further Mathematics and a native language.

Applicants taking A Levels are normally expected to offer three full A Levels. If you’re taking more than three A Levels, these won’t be included in your offer. We will only make offers consisting of three A Levels.

Access to HE Diploma
Distinction: 45

We require a QAA-recognised Access to HE Diploma (a minimum of 60 credits overall with at least 45 at Level 3), with merit or distinction in a subject area relevant to the chosen course.

The specific course requirements are 60 credits with 45 credits at Level 3 at Distinction.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including acceptable levels of Literacy and Numeracy, equivalent to at least Grade 6 or B in GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE/IGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/IGCSE English Language.

Extended Project

The University recognises the benefits of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and the opportunities it provides for applicants to develop independent study and research skills. Although the Extended Project will not be included in the conditions of your offer, we strongly encourage you to provide information about the EPQ in your personal statement and at interview. A number of our academic Schools may also choose to take your performance in the EPQ into account should places be available in August for applicants who narrowly miss the entry grades for their chosen course.

We welcome and recognise the value of the Baccalaureate Wales and accept the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (replacing the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate from September 2023)

We require minimum Grade A from the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales.

For applicants who have studied the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate, this qualification will still be accepted in lieu of one A-level (normally the lowest A-level grade listed).

Applicants completing the INTO Manchester in partnership with The University of Manchester international foundation programme in Humanities and Social Sciences, are required to achieve AAA (Mathematics must be taken as a subject module) and an EAP score of A with writing and speaking at grade A and listening and reading at grade B.

Applicants completing the NCUK International Foundation year are required to achieve AAA (Mathematics must be taken as a subject module) and an EAP score of A with writing and speaking at grade A and listening and reading at grade B.
