Applying engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems

This five-year course takes the basics of BEng in Mechanical Engineering and delves deeper, with an emphasis on industry relevance.

You'll learn the principles of the field and use the latest technology to devise and implement practical solutions across a range of industry applications.

This degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as fully satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Pass Access to HE Diploma in a related subject with 45 credits overall with minimum 30 credits at Merit & 15 credits at Distinction. Maths required at Level 3 as part of the Access to HE Diploma.

Award of Diploma with 29 points overall with three Higher Level subjects at grades 6, 5, 5. Standard Level Maths at grade 5 is also required.

Pass in a relevant subject at SCQF level 7 with grade A in the Graded Unit. Must include the modules Engineering Maths 1, 2 and 3, Thermofluids and Statics and Strength of Materials.

Minimum Year 3 Entry Requirements

HND - Pass in a relevant subject with grade A in all SCQF Level 8 Graded Units. Must include the modules Engineering Maths 1, 2, 3 and 4, Thermofluids and Statics and Strength of Materials.

Irish Ordinary Degree - Pass in a relevant subject with 60% overall, with minimum 50% at first sitting in all final year subjects.

Minimum Year 4 Entry Requirements

Irish Ordinary Degree - Pass in a relevant subject with 70% overall, with minimum 50% at first sitting in all final year subjects.

*Science/Technical subjects accepted: Physics, Engineering Science, Design & Manufacture, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Graphic Communication, Computing Science, Design & Technology.
