Course summary
Occupational Therapists work with a variety of people, across a range of settings including hospitals, community teams and schools. They are skilled professionals who support people of all ages in their daily activities (or "occupations") to gain independence and achieve meaningful goals.
The learning and teaching methods at Glasgow Caledonian ensure that you’ll benefit from a course that is vocationally relevant and academically challenging. Our approach is student-centred, practical, participative, and relevant to the needs of employers. The course involves invaluable practice placement opportunities across a range of settings, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn alongside skilled professionals.
Occupational Therapists work as part of a team, and on this course there are several opportunities to learn alongside students from a range of health and social care professions.
Your career
When you graduate you will be eligible to apply for membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Year 1: HNCs in Occupational Therapy Support, Health Care, Social Care, Social Services, Social Science or Care and Administrative Practice are considered.
Year 2: HNC Occupational Therapy: Support from Glasgow Clyde College. Applicants from this HNC can be made for year 1 or year 2. Applicants who wish to enter at year 2 will be required to attend interview as part of the admissions process.
Foundation Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6)Pass
Accepted as equivalent to one Higher at grade B as part of the overall grade profile of Highers required for entry. Any essential subjects at Higher should still be achieved in addition to the Foundation Apprenticeship.
