Your programme provides a multidisciplinary perspective to the subject of Computer Science, giving you an excellent basis for a future career in the field. Our course provides in-depth knowledge and skills in computer science, networks and applications, enabling you to progress into any area of the computing industry. You will learn the necessary skills to develop cutting edge, state-of-the-art innovative applications and experience practical exercises in coding, problem solving and cyber challenges.

You will benefit from links to professional and industry bodies, including Cisco Networking Academy and the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT. You will also have the opportunity to network with successful professionals from the world of computing for career guidance and advice.

Develop your knowledge in computer systems and networks, programming, secure systems, computer system architecture, database systems, and modelling.You’ll have access to dedicated computing labs equipped with a wide range of specialist software and tools, including programming environments such as Python and JavaScript. Our facilities also include purpose‑built Cyber Security and Forensics, Networking, and Software Development laboratories, all housed within a state‑of‑the‑art building designed to support hands‑on learning. You will graduate with an understanding of emerging trends in computer science, such as those in software development, artificial intelligence and distributed computing. During your course you will have the opportunity to attend occasional field trips.

Access to HE Diploma

We welcome applications from students who are completing an Access to Higher Education Diploma. We normally look for applicants to have studied a course that is in a similar subject and offers are usually made in line with our published tariff point range.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE A*-C or 9-4 pass in English Language and mathematics are required.

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 2 x A-level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. 2 x BTEC National Subsidiary Diplomas) and we accept all A-level subjects, including Critical Thinking, General Studies and own-language A-levels. We welcome applicants who have completed the Extended Project (EP/EPQ) and points obtained from this qualification will be included in any offer. In addition, we accept a maximum of 32 points from level 3 qualifications below A2 that are included in the tariff (e.g. AS-levels not studied at A-level, music or dance qualifications).

If you are a mature student, your application will be considered on its individual merits and work or other professional experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of other published requirements.
