The MSc Global Energy Transition Enterprise Management (formerly MSc Oil and Gas Enterprise Management) provides the essential commercial, legal and scientific skills needed to progress to senior management level positions in the international energy industry.
As we move towards a Net Zero future, there is an increasing need for professionals who understand the scientific, economic, commercial, and legal systems involved in shifting the existing energy industry to a more sustainable one.
Building on the success of the long-established MSc Oil and Gas Enterprise Management, the new MSc Global Energy Transition Enterprise Management shifts from a petroleum focus to a broader energy spectrum, applicable to our changing local and global demands on energy and its varied sources.
This programme is taught by experts across multiple disciplines, including those from the School of Geosciences, Business School, and School of Law. Along with addressing the fundamentals, our teaching incorporates the latest industry trends and techniques to ensure that what you learn is relevant to the evolving needs of the energy industry.
The University’s location in Aberdeen, a city at the heart of the UK’s energy transition, means students benefit from access to industry including field trips and site visits (including a residential field course), lectures by industry experts, industry-supported projects, and networking and careers events.
Throughout your studies you will develop the skills needed to address complex challenges within the energy industry such as land remediation and geoscience fundamentals, energy economics, management, and commercial law, enabling you to contribute meaningfully to one of the most urgent global transformations of our time.
This programme is suitable for students from a variety of academic backgrounds who wish to take on different roles in the energy transition. You will have the opportunity to focus on any element of the programme for your final project, developing an in-depth research project tailored to your areas of interest and career goals.
Assessment comprises of practical exercises and research papers and essays, where students can access information from a wide array of sources, including Oil Industry journals, periodicals and other papers which are available to them. Many of the courses include ‘games’ spread over several days, which require team and negotiating skills, as well as a knowledge of technology and economics, which draw the various courses together.
When you are thinking about studying overseas, it is important that you understand all the costs involved and budget accordingly. It is essential to budget for your studies prior to leaving your home country and to arrange all your funding for BOTH your tuition fees and your living costs.
In addition, it is important to check all immigration requirements regularly and before travelling, as they can change. Students without the necessary visa will be refused entry to the UK. You should allow plenty of time to organise your visa and ensure you are aware of all your responsibilities under the terms and conditions of your visa. Please note that the advice provided via the University is the Student Visa category of the UK's Points Based Immigration Scheme.
