If you are looking to explore the full extent of modern computer science without limiting yourself to one specialisation, then this broad-based course is for you. Our 22-month Computer Science with Placement MSc equips you with core theoretical knowledge, technical skills and invaluable practical experience while allowing you to explore new and developing technologies; hone highly coveted workplace skills; and gain real-world exposure through a 32-week, four-block industry placement.

MSc project – Computer Science – Work creatively to generate an idea and develop it further, applying your technical, analytical, practical and managerial skills.

Distributed and parallel computing technologies – Gain insights into programming technologies as well as the design and deployment of parallel and distributed computer systems.

Intelligent systems and data mining – Study the advanced design concepts of these technologies and their use for solving real-world problems.

Network systems and administration – Learn to maintain the smooth, problem-free and secure operation of network servers, troubleshooting network systems.

Research methodologies and project management – Apply project management theory and research methods in practice, working within legal and ethical boundaries.

MSc project with Placement – Computer Science – Research and investigate a selected specialist area within a four-block work placement.

Entry requirements

A good UK honours degree or equivalent in a computing-related subject. Those applicants who do not have a first degree may be granted entry on the basis of their relevant work experience. Such work experience must total five years or more.
