Course Overview

Are you interested in pursuing a career in community coaching? If so, this course is designed to provide a platform for you to enter the varied and exciting field of Sports Coaching. The course aims to introduce you to the theory and practical application of sports coaching in various environments and is designed to assist you into a wide range of careers, but with a particular focus on PE Teacher, sports coaching, fitness development and healthy lifestyle development.

This course enables you to develop the independent learning capabilities that equip you for future employment, as well as academic achievement.
You are taught through a combination of interactive workshops, seminars and practical activities.
Assessment is through coursework, group discussion and individual and group presentations.

Course Content

The course content is designed to ensure you develop the practical skills required for community coaching.
Equipping you with community coaching skills to give you an insight into the community coaching environment.
Providing you with an insight and an understanding of the diversity of roles within community coaching.
In order to complete this course you must successfully complete the following units (totalling 120 credits):

Fundamentals of Sport & Exercise Psychology
Nutrition
Professional Skills
Training, Fitness, Testing
Coaching Practice & Skill Development
Lifestyle Coaching
Community Coaching

Entry Requirements

32 UCAS Tariff points. Acceptable qualifications include a minimum of one A Level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, preferably gained in a sport / sport science related qualification e.g. BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport or A Level P.E.
Minimum of four GCSE’s at grade C/4 or above

Mature applicants with other qualifications or non-formal qualifications are welcome to apply. If you are over 21 years of age, you will be assessed on an individual basis and may be asked to complete a short task to demonstrate the required level of knowledge to meet the demands of the course.
