If you want to contribute to the field of economics through original and progressive research, the Economics PhD/MPhil is for you.

The School of Social Sciences is home to world-class economic research, particularly in the areas of macro, micro, development and labour economics.

The School’s research strengths are underpinned by specialised research centres and successful research grant applications.

As an Economics PhD/MPhil student, you will have the freedom to produce a piece of research within your specific area of interest. Be it decision theory, econometric analysis, experimental economics or public economics; our body of critically acclaimed academics can help you produce the best possible piece of research.

On completion of the course, you will be at a significant advantage ahead of beginning your career in industry or academia.
