Course summary

This is a practical, hands-on degree in Anatomy that allows you to combine a programme that includes cadaveric dissection with modules from biomedical and biological sciences. This degree will suit you if you want a thorough understanding of the structure and function of the human body. Our students are well prepared to compete for graduate entry into Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Sciences, Diagnostic Radiography and Physiotherapy, for higher degrees, and for careers in biological and medical science, archaeology, forensic science, palaeontology, sports science and teaching.

This programme is available with either a Year in China or a Year Abroad. The Year in China offers undergraduate students the opportunity to spend one year at our joint venture, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), following XJTLU's BA China Studies degree classes. XJTLU is a fully English-speaking university, located in Suzhou. The Year Abroad offers students the opportunity to spend a full academic year studying at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and/or discipline-related modules. If you wish to study this programme with a Year in China or a Year Abroad you will have the opportunity to apply after you arrive at Liverpool.

Including Biology and a Second Science, preferably Chemistry ACCEPTABLE SCIENCE SUBJECTS ARE: Applied ICT; Biology (and Human Biology); Chemistry; Computer Science; Economics; Electronics; Environmental Science; Further Mathematics; Geography; Geology; ICT; Life and Health Sciences; Mathematics; Psychology; Physics; Statistics. For applicants studying A levels with English exam boards: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*DD

D*DD in Applied Science with a selection of preferred units in Biology and Chemistry, to include Distinction in Units 1 and 5 (Principles and Applications of Science I and II). For previous BTEC (QCF) qualification: D*DD in Applied Science with a selection of preferred units in Biology and Chemistry, with at least 120 Level 3 credits at Distinction. Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits

45 Level 3 credits in graded units in a relevant Diploma, including 30 at Distinction and a further 15 with at least Merit. 15 Distinctions are required in each of Biology and Chemistry. GCSE Mathematics and English grade C also required.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 34 points

34 points overall with no score less than 4 and including 6 in Higher Level Biology and 5 in a Higher Level Science subject, plus 5 in SL Mathematics/Maths Studies or pass the IB Diploma plus 6,6,5 in 3 HL subjects including 6 in Higher Level Biology and 5 in a Higher Level Science subject, plus 5 in SL Mathematics/Maths Studies.

WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales - B

B in the Welsh Baccalaureate, plus AA at A level to include Biology and one other Science grades AA.

Extended Project - A

Applicants with the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) are eligible for a reduction in grade requirements. For this course, the offer is ABB with A in the EPQ, including Biology and another science subject.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H2, H2, H2, H3

including grades H1 and H2 in Higher Level Biology and Higher Level (second science) (any order).

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4/C required. Applicants with equivalent qualifications or who do not meet these GCSE requirements will be considered on an individual basis according to their circumstances.

T Level - D

Accepted T Level: Health and Science (Science pathway). Entry requirements: Distinction overall, with grade B in the Core. Applicants should contact the Admissions Team / admissions tutor to discuss specific requirements in the Core components and the Occupational Specialism.

Additional fee information

If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2026, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income.
