The MSci Biomedical Science is a three-year degree, extendable to four with an optional year in placement or abroad.
You’ll gain the practical skills and knowledge needed to work in labs and hospitals across the NHS and private sector.
By studying an integrated course, you’ll start at undergraduate level and graduate with a Masters-level qualification.
WHY THIS COURSE
The MSci Biomedical Science gives you key knowledge and modern strategies to diagnose and treat the human immune system, pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria, haematology and blood transfusion, cell pathology and mechanisms or neurological diseases.
You’ll first study three years at undergraduate level, then a final year at Masters-level where you’ll investigate more advanced topics and specialise in one area of research.
Add a placement year or study abroad to put your learning into practice, expand your perspective and build confidence in professional or international settings. Previous students have placed with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Proctor & Gamble (P&G), AquaTerra, AstraZeneca, Genzyme, Reckitt Benckiser, Thermo Fisher and Isogenica – some of our 40 partner labs.
In Year One, you’ll participate in Science Week at Public Health England (PHE) in Colindale. In Year Two, you can visit hospitals in the Eastern Region and beyond. In your Final Year, you’ll attend our Biomedical Employability Day and have the chance to contribute to the IBMS Congress.
You’ll graduate on the path to a career as a biomedical scientist or medical researcher.
