Course summary

This is a Level 4 stand alone qualification that is basically the first year of our Degree Programmes. The course will enable those students who are unable to commit to studying for a full BA Honours degree to have an understanding of, and learn the basic skills required in their chosen subject.

The Art and Design Multidisciplinary course enables students to develop their own bespoke course, selecting a combination of modules chosen from two of our specialist degrees targeting their own specific talents and interests. For example, sculpture and digital illustration; fashion and textiles; ceramics & jewellery and photography.

Carmarthen School of Art is known for its ‘family’ atmosphere, and open door policy where students are encouraged to discuss proposed modules with experienced tutors before formalising their programme of study. Class sizes are small and tutor contact is second to none. Please refer to Programme Descriptor and Features specific to your two chosen specialist Certificate of Higher Education departments for further information.

Lectures and contextual dialogue enables you to position yourself and your practice in terms of art history and contemporary critical thought, so that you will be equipped with the tools to map and research your own interests.
