The fashion industry is transforming — and the future belongs to those who create with purpose.
BA (Hons) Fashion Technology bridges the gap between fashion design and emerging technologies, unlocking dynamic career paths such as digital fashion design, virtual styling, and data-driven roles within the fashion industry. This course encourages students to challenge ethical innovation, constructive disruption, and sustainable change.
This course is designed for students with an interest in fashion innovation, product development, and data analysis: students who are not necessarily pursuing traditional “designer” roles but still seek a central place within the global fashion industry. This course will explore the end-to-end application of technology across the entire fashion pipeline: from concept and production, to promotion, distribution, analytical decision-making and emerging markets such as circularity.
Fashion Technology will redefine what fashion can be through the application of technologies across the fashion workflow; in doing so, students on this course will understand not only the opportunities new and emerging technologies can create but also how they can impact the environmental, ethical, and socially responsible arguments intrinsic to this global industry.
The BA (Hons) Fashion Technology course will emphasise:
Purpose – investigating how technologies can minimise waste, extend product life and use resources responsibly, supported by ethical narratives. Innovation – how established and emerging technologies, such as digital prototyping and virtual modelling, can drive innovation and sustainable approaches before a garment is physically made.
Circularity – creation of modular, recyclable, up-cyclable and biodegradable textiles and garments that will ultimately reduce the volume of new product in the production chain.
Respect – investigating how traditional, “slow” and low-tech technologies can enhance fair and sustainable working practices to produce product that is exciting and innovative whilst also being culturally respectful and ethically conscious.
Impact– apply what you learn to creative course work and help raise awareness of the benefits emerging technologies can bring as well as helping to influence future behaviour and attitudes towards production, consumption and use.
On graduating from the BA (Hons) Fashion Technology, you will be fully prepared to lead in the fashion industry—not only as creative and technically skilled practitioners, but as champions of sustainability and social responsibility. You will graduate with the knowledge, tools, and ethical framework to influence meaningful change and shape the future of fashion for the better.

We are happy to accept a wide range of qualifications, including but not limited to: A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma(s), Access to HE courses, Scottish Highers, IB Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. We can also accept many EU and International qualifications. See website for details. Email Admissions (admissions@aub.ac.uk) with any queries about entry requirements.
We welcome applicants who are currently studying or who have gained a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and this qualification meets our level three entry requirements. This is a recommended qualification for many of our courses but it is not a compulsory qualification.
Other relevant and equivalent Level 3 qualifications are considered on an individual basis and we are happy to accept applicants with a combination of Level 3 qualifications. Please check your qualifications using UCAS Tariff calculator and remember we are looking for the equivalent of 3 A levels if you are combining Level 3 qualifications.
AUB tailors its offers to the qualifications an applicant is studying and looks for applicant to be studying a relevant creative subject. AUB makes offers based on up to three A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications with the most UCAS Tariff points attached to them to give applicants the best chance possible at achieving our required tariff (120 UCAS Tariff points in most cases).
