About this Course:
Are you looking to develop your teaching skills and reflect on current ideas about education and training?
This two year course allows you to creatively explore the professional opportunities open to you within the educational sector. Validated by the University of Hull, a high percentage of the course is focused on practical teaching. You will gain experience of learning and teaching alongside other teachers and trainers, with support from your tutors.
Rotherham College has an experienced teaching team with a good reputation to ensure you receive a quality teaching and learning experience. You will also receive support from our learning Centre staff in relation to academic and research skills, and have access to modern teaching rooms with current software and a range of ICT resources.
This course is delivered over two days or less.
This programme is designed as in-service training for those already teaching in the lifelong learning sector. It provides a recognised professional qualification.
Modules Covered:
Principles and practice in post-compulsory education
Practical teaching and learning
Exploring specialist teaching (delivered online)
Advanced professional practice in context
Plus, completion of a Practical Teaching File demonstrating evidence of teaching skills development. Using a variety of methods including observations, assignments, presentations and portfolios of evidence.

Entry Requirements:
You should be in paid employment as a teacher or trainer for a minimum of 50 hours per year (100 hours in total) at a recognised training or education establishment. Voluntary teaching/training may be acceptable.
Level 3 or equivalent qualification in your subject area
A current, valid and clean DBS
Qualification or competency at Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (e.g. GCSE, Functional Skills)
A mentor suitably experienced in teaching your subject
