Civil Engineering

MEng (Hon) · 4 Years · Full-time · 14/09/2026 · UndergraduateThe University of Hull

Course summary

This practical degree will prepare you to shape the world's future by combining an excellent foundation in all aspects of Civil Engineering with the hands-on experience that employers are looking for.

You'll study key topics including structural engineering, design, construction, geotechnics, hydraulics, and building information modelling (BIM), with an emphasis on their real-world applications.

That means we treat you like a trainee engineer from day one, providing access to industry-standard technology on campus – including state-of-the-art labs for materials testing, fluid dynamics, 3D printing, robotics and more – plus the chance to forge industry connections with leading firms. Think the likes of Spencer Group, ABP, Siemens, Orsted and Smith & Nephew.

On our four-year Integrated Masters (MEng) option, you study a year at postgraduate level on top of your degree. By studying a Masters, you'll further extend the depth and breadth of your knowledge and earn an MEng qualification.
