Our BSc (Hons) Finance degree will equip you with the foundational theory and practice of modern finance, with an emphasis on the growing importance of sustainability, financial technology and ethical decision-making in today’s global economy.
Through a combination of teamwork, communication and commercial awareness, you will build the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in finance, demonstrating ethical judgement, strategic thinking and creative problem-solving.
Addressing global challenges through our teaching, you will explore the social, ethical and global context in which finance operates, with a strong focus on sustainable finance and responsible investment, alongside the integration of finance within wider business.
Through hands-on experience with financial data platforms, exposure to live financial briefs and simulations, and the use of professional tools in our state-of-the-art Finance Lab, you will gain the skills, experience and confidence to begin an exciting career in finance.
Our Year in Industry, Year Abroad and Foundation Year course options give you the opportunity to tailor your study experience to your needs and career ambitions.
Additionally, our programme encourages entrepreneurial thinking and, should you wish, you will be supported in developing your enterprise skills through business challenges and access to university-led incubators and support hubs. Whether you want to start a business, or drive change within an organisation, you are prepared to lead responsibly and creatively.
In Year 1, you will typically study areas including: Foundations of Financial Accounting; Analytical and Digital Skills; The Economy and Society; Business Law and Professional Ethics; Foundations of Management Accounting; Financial Markets and Systems.
In Year 2, you will typically study areas including: Corporate Finance; Investments: Assets; Equities and Bonds; Financial Markets and Institutions; Programming for Finance; Mathematical Economics; Information Systems; Management Science; Business and Employment Law; Human Resource Management; Management Consulting.
In Year 3: Year spent in Industry.
In Year 4, you will typically study areas including: Financial Market Efficiency; Asset Management; Financial Economics; Derivatives and Risk Management; Investment Banking; Project Management; Applied Money and Banking Economics; Risk Management in Banking; Forensic Accounting.
We offer a variety of assessment methods within our programmes, which can include:

From a Business related Access Course.
A minimum of 5 in Standard Level English or 4 in Higher Level English.
Swansea University accepts the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales as fully equivalent to x1 A-Level.
This qualification can be used in conjunction with 2 A levels or A level equivalent qualifications.
We recognise the EPQ as an excellent indicator of success.
If you are predicted a grade B or above in the EPQ, you will receive an offer with a one
grade reduction, to include your EPQ with a grade B.
GCSEs: Minimum of Grade C in Mathematics; and in English or Welsh Language.
