The PgDip / MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nursing is an academic and professional programme designed to prepare Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered nurses and/or midwives to become Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN).
The award has three distinct pathways that enable you to apply for registration on the SCPHN part of the NMC professional register in a specific field of SCPHN practice:
Health Visiting
School Nursing
Occupational Health Nursing*
*NB Occupational Health Nursing is offered part-time only and is delivery fully online.
You will normally possess an Ordinary bachelor's degree.
You must be a Registered Nurse on part 1 or Midwife on part 2 of the NMC register.
If you have recently graduated from your pre-registration nursing education course and have applied for NMC registration then you may also be considered for the programme.
Due to the practice placement element of the course you must be a nurse working in schools or have secured a trainee/student School Nurse post and therefore be fully supported by an NHS employer or an Independent School to undertake the programme.
