The HNC and HND courses are separate one-year study programmes. You can choose to study the HNC and achieve a Level 4 qualification or study for two years and achieve a full Level 5 HND.
This cutting-edge Esports course is designed to help you develop the wide range of personal skills that employers require. If you are already working, gaining these skills will enable you to make an immediate contribution to your current role. The course will provide you with an extensive overview of practical Esports production skills, which will give you a strong foundation of knowledge upon which to build a successful career.
About Esports
The esports industry is experiencing explosive growth globally and, in the UK, driven by advancements in streaming technology and a surge in competitive gaming. Valued at over $1 billion globally, the sector is expanding at an annual rate of 15%, with the UK positioned as a key market in Europe. This growth fuels demand for skilled professionals in event management and production, as tournaments grow larger, audiences expand, and live broadcasts become increasingly sophisticated. Careers in esports production offer exciting roles in live event coordination, broadcast production, digital content creation, and audience engagement, catering to a rapidly evolving entertainment industry.
What projects will you be able to work on?
Students studying a HNC/D in Esports will have the opportunity to work on a variety of hands-on projects that build practical skills in event and production management. They might engage in designing and coordinating mock tournaments, managing live-streamed gaming events, producing digital content for esports broadcasts, or developing marketing strategies to grow audience engagement. Projects could also involve collaborating on real-world simulations of esports events, honing skills in audio-visual production, managing digital platforms, and exploring effective communication strategies for large-scale online and live audiences.
Develop Your Career in Esports**
Upon completion of the HNC/D in Esports, you will understand and be familiar with evolving concepts, theories, and techniques in event production and management specific to the esports industry. You’ll learn how to successfully apply these skills to real-world esports events, from live tournament production to digital broadcasts. Throughout the course, you’ll also build valuable personal skills, including time management, teamwork, and leadership abilities, helping you grow in confidence and expertise. These skills will open doors to a wide range of careers in the dynamic field of esports, giving you a competitive edge in a fast-growing industry.
The course is delivered through a blend of interactive learning methods, including lectures, collaborative projects, written assignments, hands-on production work, and personal research, supported by tutorials.
Build your skills
You will complete eight units throughout the year, with each unit being assessed by assignments and/or oral presentations; these will be graded on a pass, merit and distinction basis. The course assignments will assess your knowledge and ability to demonstrate analytical and independent research, apply business theory and evaluate decisions in a real business context. Support will be offered by lecturers in preparation for assessment. The course requires reflective learning, creative thinking and effective time management.

You can leave this course after successfully achieving year 1 and you will be awarded a Higher National Certificate in this subject.

We will consider evidence of your relevant personal, professional or educational experience where it demonstrates an ability and potential to succeed on the course. If English isn't your first language you will need to undertake an IELTS qualification achieving an overall grade of 6 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent)
GSCE requirements: GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4.
We welcome applications from international and EU students, and accept a range of international qualifications. You will need to take the following English qualification as part of the Visa process: IELTS (Academic) - Overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component. If you are travelling from and English speaking country this may not be required. Home students are required to achieve GCSE or Functional Skills English at level 4 or a pass.
International Applicants from a non English speaking will need to undertake an IELTS for UKVI Purposes to apply for a visa. You will need to achieve an overall score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill.
You will have to pay 50% of the fee before a Confirmation of Study (CAS) is issued and if you are applying from a country that is not on the UK Government Exempt countries https://www.gov.uk/student-visa/money will have to provide bank statements showing that you have held at least £10, 539 (£1,171 per month for up to 9 months) for 28 consecutive days before we can issue the CAS and The end date of the 28-day period must be within 31 days of the date you apply for your visa.
