Course summary

The FdSc Sports Coaching, Education and Development programme is a highly vocational course that embeds the principles of work based learning within all of the modules studied.

Alongside the vocational elements of the programme the learners also study a range of underpinning theories that facilitate their development. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to apply for a Career Degree Bursary to support their learning and continued professional development. The Career Degree Bursary could be spent on:

  • National Governing Body qualifications (e.g. 1st4Sport Level in Coaching Multi-Skills, The FA Level 1 and 2 Certificate in Coaching Football, SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant etc.)

  • Continuous professional development opportunities (e.g. Coaching courses and conferences)

  • City and Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training

  • Personal PE and Sports equipment

Hands-On Experience
At Lincoln College University Centre, we provide students with real-life coaching experiences in authentic environments. Working closely with a local primary school, students are responsible for planning and delivering fundamental movement skills-based PE lessons that help children to become physically literate, whilst providing them with positive experiences that help keep them physically active for life.

More importantly, these experiences allow students to develop their practical teaching and coaching skills, creating stronger connections between theory and practice that will help them to better understand the roles of PE teachers and sports coaches.
