8th in the UK for Education (The Complete University Guide 2025)
Teachers lead busy lives – that’s why we’ve designed this flexible MA to fit your schedule. On the course, you’ll attend monthly twilight sessions over two years.
You’ll learn from supportive teacher-researchers and benefit from the expertise in our Centre for Teaching and Learning Research:
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
social justice and gender in education settings
policy and practice addressing inclusion, diversity and the awarding gap of pupils facing deprivation.
You’ll explore child-friendly research methods such as drama, art, observation and interviews, and bring what you’ve learned to your final research project. This may result in outcomes that:
can be applied in the classroom to develop your practice
build your professional confidence
boost your promotion prospects.
In the spirit of flexibility, you’ll have the opportunity to tailor your learning and research to what interests you most. Also, if you have existing Masters-level credits, you may have the option to bring them to this course.
Please note that the UK Government’s Master’s Loan is only available for full, standalone Masters courses. Students with Advanced Standing are not eligible for this funding.
We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. We’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus. However, if we need to make material changes, for example due to government or regulatory requirements, or unanticipated staff changes, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
