If you want to tackle complex environmental challenges, join our MSci Chemistry with Sustainability. You'll be at the forefront of discovering how chemistry can help to establish a more sustainable future.
Immerse yourself in the dynamic world of chemistry, learning how to propose innovative solutions to the world’s sustainability problems. Develop advanced skills to launch a rewarding and versatile career.
Explore how chemists design new materials for energy storage and conversion, develop alternative fuel sources and meet the challenges of recycling a diverse range of materials. You’ll build analytical abilities, multidisciplinary, creative problem-solving and communication skills. Spend time in our state-of-the-art teaching labs with a focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary working.
Join one of our internationally-recognised research groups for your research project, focused in a particular aspect of sustainability. Learn from international experts who’ll introduce you to the most exciting aspects of modern chemistry, from sustainable materials to clean energy.

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - Not accepted
A level - AAA - A*AA
Offer will depend on subject combination.
A level Chemistry. Minimum Mathematics requirement: GCSE grade 6.
General Studies, Critical Thinking and Use of Maths are not accepted.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
BTEC only considered when combined with other qualifications.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points
7,6,6 - 6,6,6 at Higher Level, including Chemistry at Higher Level, with a minimum of 32 points overall. One or more additional science subjects at Higher Level is advantageous. A minimum of 5 at Standard Level English and 4 at Standard Level Maths is required for those students who do not have a minimum of grade C in English at GCSE and of grade B in Maths at GCSE.
Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)
Accepted in place of a non-required A level with the equivalent grade.
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal
Accepted in place of A levels with the following grade equivalencies: D2 = A*; D3 = A; M2 = B. Combinations of A levels and Principle subjects are accepted. NB required subjects must be offered (see A level Section)
