Course summary

The foundation year of this Coventry University degree will be delivered from our CU Coventry campus. Course delivery from year 1 of the degree onwards will be from the Coventry University campus.

Foundation year
This year aims to provide the fundamental knowledge and skillset in a range of mathematical and business principles, as well as the theories and concepts involved in investment risk and professional ethics.

Degree
Sound financial knowledge and accountancy skills help businesses make informed decisions, develop the right strategies and achieve growth, while also considering ethics and sustainability. Management roles often require budgeting and financial administration skills to keep a business on track and achieve targets. Coventry University’s Accounting and Finance BSc (Hons) course is designed to help you develop these capabilities.

  • Benefit from real-world exposure: boost your employability with an optional sandwich year, offering you the chance to gain hands-on industry placement experience. Past students have undertaken placements at PwC, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, Jaguar Land Rover and the NHS.

  • Join like-minded communities: enrich your student experience by becoming a member of a student-led society such as the Investment Society or the Economics Society.

The foundation teaches key modules in:
Academic Skills for Accounting and Finance - 30 Credits
Accounting and Spreadsheets - 30 Credits
Investment and Risk - 30 Credits
Cost, Revenue and Professional Ethics - 30 Credits

After foundation, you progress to year 1 of the degree course. The common first year enables you to work alongside students doing similar courses to you, to widen your knowledge and exposure to other subject areas and professions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students, so you can share your insights and experience which will help you to develop and learn.

Year Two

Professional skills – to have the behaviour and abilities to succeed in your career 
Global awareness – the beliefs and abilities to be a resilient, confident and motivated global citizen

Final Year
Year three aims to bring you to the level to enter the world of work by consolidating your knowledge and skills from years one and two. You could also work on a large final project in an area of your interest, with the support of a supervisor.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 64 points

5 GCSEs at A-C/4-9 including Maths and English, and at least one A2 level or a BTEC equivalent qualification.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE maths and English at grade 4 / C or Functional Skills Level 2, or other equivalent Level 2 awards.

T Level - Pass (D or E)

Overall grade of Pass (D or E on the Core) in the T Level Qualification in any subject.
