Applied Psychology

You’ll explore how psychological knowledge is applied to complex real-world problems, developing the advanced skills needed to work at a higher professional and academic level. This Applied Psychology MPsych is designed for students who want to study psychology in depth and graduate with both an undergraduate degree and a Master’s qualification.

This is an integrated Master’s degree. You’ll study the same core psychology content as our Psychology BSc(Hons) for the first three years, building a strong foundation in areas such as cognition, developmental psychology and biopsychology. You’ll then complete a fourth year of Master’s-level study, allowing you to deepen your knowledge and develop advanced research and analytical skills.

Throughout the course, learning has a strong applied focus. You’ll explore current and sometimes challenging issues through case studies, applied projects and hands-on research, helping you understand how psychological theory is used in professional, organisational and research settings. This approach supports the development of critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills at an advanced level.
