London
We believe that good design positively affects everyday lives and can be of vital importance in creating a better and more sustainable future for all. This degree teaches you the importance of location, context and client –preparing you for a fast-paced, professional career in interior design.
Examining both public and private spaces, you’ll learn how new designs are created in response to the purpose of a space and the needs of its user – considering its history, location, size, architecture and environmental impact. You’ll develop your own personal approaches and learn to create spaces that improve the lives of those who use them.
You'll learn a broad range of methods and principles central to contemporary interior design and develop hand drawings, digital visualisations, 3D prints and physical models – building designs in our workshop, before documenting them in our photography studio. You’ll also learn the financial and marketing aspects of the industry, developing the business acumen to maintain a career in this industry.
As you explore multiple ways of investigating design problems, through words, images, drawings and making, you'll enhance your creativity, confidence, design ability, capacity for innovation and future potential. Everything you learn will enable you to develop your personal style and ambition as a designer, and help you to go onto professional practice in employment, your own practice or further study in a variety of national and international contexts.
Industry-focused in London
London is recognised as one of the world’s design capitals and is home to some of the industry’s most important brands, agencies and events. You’ll be well placed to draw inspiration from the city's history and iconic architecture, and get involved with a wide variety of collaborations and events.
Your studies will be enhanced by field trips to museums, galleries and exhibitions, as well as guest talks from industry experts. You’ll also have the chance to collaborate on live briefs with real clients – proposing inventive and thought provoking design solutions for existing London sites, while considering their history, architecture and environmental impact. Recent collaborations include:
Zoological Society London Camden Council
MICA Architect
Marylebone Parish
You'll be part of a stimulating creative community, preparing you for your future career.
