Course summary
Our BSc (Hons) Computing (Including Foundation Year) course encompasses the core technologies and essential skills that you’ll need for a long and varied career in the IT industry and teaches you how to apply them directly to solve real-world problems.
This forward-looking IT course prepares you to think critically, work practically, and build industry-ready skills, helping you start and progress in a successful technology career from day one at university. Developed with major employers, this course reflects real industry needs. You will apply theory through hands-on projects, build analytical and practical skills, and develop technical, managerial, and legal understanding. This prepares you to adapt, lead, and succeed as a confident IT professional graduate.
If you’ve enjoyed studying computer-based subject at A-Level or BTEC, or even if you’ve just had fun playing around with your own computer or using technology for solving problems, this is the course for you. The course is “hands-on” while also providing theoretical learning that is tied very closely to practice.
Assessment method
You’ll be assessed in different ways, including short tasks, coursework, presentations, and group work. Early assessments are designed to support your learning and help you understand what is expected at university. Most assessments are coursework-based and help you develop key skills such as research, academic writing, teamwork, and communication.
