Fashion is not just about what we wear. It is about how brands connect with people, cultures and ideas.
On this course, you will explore the business of fashion within a creative environment. You will examine the global retail landscape, understand how trends shape decision making, and learn how brands respond to changing consumer expectations.
You will study areas such as fashion consumers and community, digital marketing, buying merchandising and licensing and visual communication. Alongside this, you will develop the ability to think strategically and communicate ideas in ways that engage audiences and build brands.
Through industry insight and real world projects, you will gain the skills to shape the future of fashion marketing, from sustainable practices to luxury and lifestyle sectors.

BA Fashion Marketing with Management is a three year full time course based at Winchester School of Art. You can choose to extend your degree with a year abroad or a year in industry.
The course offers the option of accreditation with the Institute of Data and Marketing and is linked with UKFT and the British Fashion Council.

Throughout this course you'll explore the breadth of the discipline, with the flexibility to tailor your degree to your interests and ambitions.
Year 1: Fundamental Skills, Introduction to core concepts, tools, and methods in fashion marketing, branding, and management, Student as learner and explorer.
Year 2: Exploratory Skills, Application of knowledge to real-world contexts, with an emphasis on critical thinking and strategic insight, Student as emerging creative practitioner and analyst.
Year 3: Autonomous & Professional Skills, Independent, self-directed work that demonstrates mastery, innovation, and readiness for industry or further study, Independent professional and critical thinker.
You will also have opportunities to tailor your learning through student-selected year in employment or year abroad. Module structure may vary to keep your learning up to date with industry advances.

You’ll learn through a mix of lectures, seminars, individual and group tutorials, workshops and private study. You’ll gain practical digital and fashion styling skills, and experience of writing strategic reports and business plans, alongside your contextual and theoretical knowledge. The curriculum also includes guest lectures, live briefs and optional study visits to leading fashion brands in the UK and overseas.
Alongside your subject-specific knowledge, you’ll develop superb research, critical analysis, team working and communication skills that will prove invaluable as your career progresses.
You’ll be assessed on your coursework, which may take the form of written work with supporting visual portfolios, essays, marketing plans, illustrated business reports, creative formats such as film, image and editorial, and your final project.

Distinction, Distinction, Merit in the BTEC National Extended Diploma.
60 credits with a minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 of which 18 credits must be at Distinction and 27 credits at Merit.
We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).
Unless a more advanced level (Higher or Advanced Higher) is specified in the stated entry requirements, all applicants will be required to have achieved a pass in Mathematics and English at Standard Grade, Grade 3 or National 5, Grade C, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4"

Offers will be based on exams being taken at the end of S6. Subjects taken and qualifications achieved in S5 will be reviewed. Careful consideration will be given to an individual’s academic achievement, taking in to account the context and circumstances of their pre-university education. Pass, with 28 points overall with 14 points at Higher Level.
Applications where Higher Level subjects have been studied without the full Diploma, will also be considered on a case by case basis.
International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP):
Offers will be made on the individual Diploma Course subject(s) and the career-related study qualification. The CP core will not form part of the offer. Where there is a subject pre-requisite(s), applicants will be required to study the subject(s) at Higher Level in the Diploma course subject and/or take a specified unit in the career-related study qualification. Applicants may also be asked to achieve a specific grade in those elements.

We welcome applicants with other qualifications eg. European Baccalaureate. You will be expected to attain an A level equivalent standard.
The University of Southampton requires all applicants to achieve at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics GCSEs (taken in England) or a Grade C in both subjects (where taken in Northern Ireland or Wales). Some degree subjects stipulate specific additional GCSE minimum grades, which will be specified as part of the individual degree programme entry requirements.
