About this postgraduate pre-registration course

If you’re looking to make a positive difference to people’s lives, and already have an undergraduate degree and experience in health and social care, this Masters course is for you.

You’ll gain the specialist knowledge and clinical skills needed to become a registered adult nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in two years.

The course is highly practical, giving you hands-on experience. You’ll spend 50 per cent of your time on placement in hospitals, in the community and in our skills and simulation labs. Placement opportunities include medical and surgical wards, oncology, ICU, A&E, coronary care, operating theatres, district nursing, GP practice nursing and integrated community teams.

The course’s core themes are nursing professional values, quality of life, diversity, anti-discrimination, medicines management, safeguarding, life sciences, managing relationships, self-awareness and reflection, nursing skills, ethics, and law.

You will gain experience in an area of London or Surrey which includes placement opportunities within both acute hospital trusts and primary care community trusts. There is also the opportunity to undertake an international elective placement.

This course will be updated to reflect the new NMC standards.
