This degree combines professional placements in community healthcare settings with state-of-the-art simulation, which is embedded throughout our course and allows our students to experience real life scenarios within the safety of the University setting.
This course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for the purpose of providing eligibility to apply for registration with the NMC as a children's nurse.
On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: BSc (Hons) Nursing Practice (Child)
Foundation Year: Fundamentals of Health Care Governance and Key Skills; Foundations of Clinical Practice; Basics of Body Systems; Diseases, Disorders & Injuries
Year One: Children and Young Peoples Nursing Care; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 1; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 2; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 3; Mental Health and Physical Health Through the Lifespan (Rn); Professional, Legal and Ethical Considerations
Year Two: Altered Mental Health and Physical Health through the Lifespan; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 4; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 5; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 6; Human Factors: Risk, Decision-making and Uncertainty; Physical Assessment and Preparation for Prescribing
Year Three: Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 7; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 8; Children and Young Peoples Nursing in Practice 9; Peer Learning and Teaching in Professional Nursing Practice; The Evidence-Base for Practice
