MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology will equip you with the knowledge and practical experience to design and prescribe exercise safely.

You’ll study in state-of-the-art facilities, including simulated hospital wards, clinical skills suites, and bespoke laboratories, and on a variety of practice placements across NHS and private practice.

Upon graduation, you’ll have the knowledge and practical skills required to excel in your career. You’ll be eligible to register with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, which will significantly enhance your post-qualifying career prospects.

You’ll learn how to enhance an individual’s functional outcomes and quality of life by:

  • Performing individualised health assessments and screenings

  • Implementing evidence-based, safe, and effective exercise interventions and behaviour change strategies, including nutritional guidance

  • Developing an understanding of clinical patho/physiology and aetiology of disease states

  • Understanding the pillars of prehabilitation, rehabilitation, and personalised care, including psychological support.

Entry requirements

To apply for this course you'll need a 2:1 classification in a sport and exercise science or related degree.

Students on the course will be required to have enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and occupational health clearance.

If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English meets our Band D: For IELTS, this is 5.5 overall, with minimum 6.5 Reading and Writing and 6.0 in all other components. For information on other accepted English language tests, please see the website.
