Gain a solid grounding in all areas in business, specialising in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in finance.
Year 1
Your first year covers the fundamentals of finance, accounting and economics. You’ll also further develop your mathematical skills and explore business, society and law.
Year 2
Continue to specialise in areas of finance, including vital skills like programming.
Final year
In your final year, specialist optional units will equip you with the knowledge to pursue careers in various parts of the finance industry. You’ll also do the Individual Project. This is a chance to apply what you’ve learned on the course to a practical or academic finance-related research question.

Typical offer
AAA or AAB in three A levels including A in Mathematics.
Contextual offer
AAB or A*BB in three A levels including A in Mathematics.
A level - Alternative offer
AAB in three A levels including A in Mathematics plus additional study - please see the course pages on our website.
Typical offer:
DDD in the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (RQF) plus A* in A level Mathematics.
You must be studying A level Mathematics alongside your BTEC qualification.
We prefer BTEC qualifications in Business, but you can also be considered if you are studying qualifications in Engineering or Science. In this case we would expect you to demonstrate evidence of strong essay-based skills, such as strong GCSE performance in English and humanities subjects.
Typical offer:
A pass in the Access to HE Diploma with at least 39 credits achieved at Distinction including at least 12 credits achieved at Distinction from Mathematics units.
Typical offer:
AA in two Advanced Highers including Mathematics.
We make offers based on Advanced Highers. You will typically be expected to have completed five Scottish Highers and your grades in these will be considered as part of your application. We prefer applicants who have achieved at least AAAAA in their Highers.
Typical offer:
36 points overall and 7, 6, 6 or 7, 7, 5 in three Higher Level subjects including 6 in either HL Mathematics.
Standard Level in Mathematics
You must study Mathematics at Higher Level for this course - we do not accept Standard Level Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations for this course.
Contextual offer:
36 points overall and 6, 6, 5 or 7, 5, 5 in three Higher Level subjects including 6 in either HL Mathematics.
Distinction* and A* plus A* at A level
D* overall with grade A* in the core component in an Accounting or Finance T Level plus grade A* in A level Mathematics.
You must be studying A level Mathematics alongside your T Level qualification.
We are able to consider the above T Level technical qualification in Accounting or Finance.
GCSE requirements
GCSE English Language or Literature grade 6 or B (or equivalent from English language category A)
GCSE grades are an important part of selection for this course and we typically expect students to have a good number of GCSEs at grade 9 to 7 or A* to A.
Your GCSE grades will be carefully considered as part of our contextual admissions process and depending on your circumstances, we may be able to consider you with 4 or C in English Language or Literature GCSE.
