About the course
Biomedical Science Foundation Studies: Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is a one-year programme designed to build your confidence, academic skills and subject knowledge for progression into the health sector or undergraduate study.
You will study in a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and independent learning. On successful completion, you can progress onto a degree, including Biomedical Science.
What you’ll study
You will gain a foundation in biological sciences, human health and research skills, alongside essential academic and communication skills.
Modules may include:
• Academic Skills and Communication
• Data Analysis and Research Skills
• Foundations of Biological Sciences
• Human Health and Disease

How you’ll learn
Teaching takes place through lectures, seminars and workshops delivered by experienced academic staff.
You will receive regular support from an academic guidance tutor, alongside face-to-face and online careers and study support.
With teaching delivered over no more than three days per week, you will have flexibility to undertake part-time work, placements or internships alongside your studies.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment methods include coursework, reports and online tests, designed to develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills while introducing industry-relevant practices.
Future opportunities
This CertHE prepares you to progress onto an undergraduate degree, such as Biomedical Science, or move towards a career in the health sector.
You will also benefit from dedicated careers support to help you build your CV, prepare for interviews and connect with graduates and employers.
