Course summary

Train as a modern musician. Learn to create, perform, and produce music for today's creative industries - from live stages to professional studios, and beyond.

Music careers rarely fit into one box. Today's artists perform live, produce their own tracks, collaborate across genres, and need to adapt quickly to new opportunities. BA Music Performance & Production reflects that reality.

You'll combine theory, history, composition, and technique to develop as a confident performer, then expand your practice with production and creative technologies. From rehearsals and concerts to studio sessions and digital releases, you'll work across live and studio environments, gaining hands-on experience from day one.

Working on projects shaped around industry practices, you'll collaborate with other creatives, test your own ideas, and refine your creative direction. Along the way, you'll build a strong portfolio using professional facilities - showcasing what you can do, how you work, and where you want to go next.

As part of this course, you'll:

  • Hone your performance skills - live and in the studio - developing confident, adaptable musicianship and a professional-standard portfolio

  • Explore specialist modules covering topics like radio and podcasting, music copyright, and how the music industry operates online

  • Produce, record, and refine your music using industry-standard software and equipment

  • Collaborate with other creatives on shared projects and real-world briefs

  • Explore how music careers really work - from freelance practice to creative industries - and how to get to where you want to be
