- Bangor University (Prifysgol Bangor)

Course summary
Our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science (with Foundation Year) provides an alternative route into undergraduate study. This is ideal if, for example, you do not have the necessary qualifications or cannot meet the entry requirements to begin your studies on the standard three-year degree course.
The additional foundation year helps you better prepare for science-based degree-level study. On successful completion, you can either progress to the first year of the sport and exercise science degree or switch to a different specialist sport science degree.
As well as a solid grounding in essential biology, maths, and computer science, you’ll get a taste of what learning is like at this higher level. Under the supervision of one of our academics, for example, you’ll plan and conduct research on a relevant topic – developing the same research skills you will need to complete your undergraduate dissertation or research project.
A big advantage of this integrated four-year programme is the flexibility in the choices available once you successfully complete the Foundation Year. Depending on your interests and career ambitions at this stage, it allows you to progress to Year 1 of BSc Sport and Exercise Science
An ideal location to study sport, North Wales offers a full range of outdoor pursuits, such as hiking, canoeing, climbing, and extreme sports like white water rafting, mountain biking, zip lining and caving.
You’ll be taught by staff who are recognised internationally for their cutting-edge scientific research. Our staff are also applied practitioners and they will share their experiences of working as sport and exercise scientists in high-profile organizations (e.g., NHS, military, UK Sport, Sport Wales, Premier League football teams, England and Wales Cricket Board) and with world-leading athletes and teams. North Wales offers a stunning natural environment for your studies, and our department, which was established in 1978, is proud to call itself one of the original and longest serving Sport and Exercise Science providers in the world.
