The BSc Business Management and Accounting programme combines a broad foundation in business and management with specialist knowledge in accounting and financial decision-making.
The programme is designed to develop graduates who understand how organisations operate, perform and grow, with particular emphasis on the role of financial information in supporting effective management. Students will explore core areas of business including strategy, operations, organisational behaviour and the wider economic environment, alongside accounting disciplines such as financial reporting, management accounting and performance analysis.
A key feature of the programme is the integration of business and accounting perspectives, enabling students to understand not only how financial information is produced, but how it is used to inform strategic and operational decisions. Students will engage with real-world business scenarios, developing analytical and problem-solving skills that are directly relevant to contemporary organisational contexts.
The programme prepares graduates for careers across business, finance and professional services, as well as for further study in accounting, finance or management.
We are proud to be in an elite group of business schools to hold the triple accreditations of Equis, AMBA and AACSB, often referred to as the "Triple Crown".
A number of professional accountancy bodies give exemptions for examinations taken at different stages of their professional qualification, including ICAEW, ACCA, AIA and CIMA, and CPA Australia. Depending on specific accounting modules taken, this programme may entitle students to be eligible for exemptions.
Teaching, learning and assessment are designed to support the development of both business management capability and accounting expertise. Students learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and digital learning activities, supported by the University’s virtual learning environment. Teaching approaches emphasise the application of concepts to real-world business and financial contexts, including the use of case studies, practical exercises and problem-based learning. Accounting-focused modules develop technical competence in areas such as financial reporting, budgeting and performance analysis, while business modules provide broader organisational and strategic understanding. Students are supported to develop quantitative and analytical skills, alongside critical thinking and professional judgement. Assessment is varied and aligned to learning outcomes, enabling students to demonstrate both technical knowledge and applied skills. Methods may include examinations, coursework, financial analysis reports, case study evaluations, group projects and presentations. Formative assessment and feedback are embedded throughout the programme to support continuous development. Assessment tasks are designed to reflect real-world practices, such as interpreting financial data, evaluating organisational performance and making evidence-based recommendations.
