Course summary

You will acquire comprehensive knowledge and understanding of key scientific principles, theories and practice and their intelligent application to problems within modern manufacturing industry. The course will focus on those manufacturing philosophies that reflect leading industrial practice and the application of the latest computer aided engineering systems to achieve enhanced and sustainable manufacturing performance.

Driven by the School’s internationally recognised research, the course draws upon expertise in recognised research in areas such as aerospace composites, polymers, advanced metal forming, medical devices, biomedical engineering and nanotechnology.

You will build skills and knowledge in the core areas of computer aided engineering for managers, manufacturing systems and quality with the opportunity to specialise in materials, nanotechnology, electronics, finite element and biomaterials.

Part-time students who are in full-time employment can obtain credit for work-based activity in the work-based learning modules. A significant number of students come from local engineering companies and the course content is suitable for engineering or science graduates wishing to up-skill to improve their employment prospects.
