Course summary

Our Business and Management with Foundation Year BA offers you a programme of learning which will expose you to the realities of business and management and the managerial experience in a variety of contexts. The course covers the relevance of both management theory and practice for the solution of problems in international, national and local arenas and in the private and public sectors. You will be provided with an educational experience which both complements and challenges accepted thinking, norms and perceptions in business and management.

We are driven by a commitment to asking challenging questions and to engaged, creative and socially responsible approaches to business, management and economics. Our degrees provide opportunities for professional development and will give you the skills to overcome contemporary managerial challenges with innovative and analytical decision-making.

In the first year of this course you will be working towards passing a foundation year (year 0), which will enable automatic progression onto year one of BA Business and Management.

Our integrated Business Foundation year degrees are aimed at students who wish to study a business-related subject but don’t have the traditional entry requirements.

The course is run on the University of Leicester campus like any other, and you will be studying alongside other students who applied for, and slightly missed out on, a place on a course similar to yours.

You will be taught by our expert academic staff from across all areas of the School of Business. The course strongly emphasises the development of essential professional and personal skills, which are necessary throughout your studies and beyond.

During your foundation year you will join our student community and be able to enjoy all aspects of the University of Leicester and School of Business student experience. You will be able to join the Students’ Union, use our academic and leisure facilities, live in our accommodation and access all our support services.

You will have a dedicated personal tutor to support you through your foundation year.

A level - BCC

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DMM

Access to HE Diploma - D: 24 credits

Should be in a business-related subject

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 26 points

If GCSE maths and English not held then a minimum of grade 3 in SL Maths Analysis and Approach or grade 3 in HL Maths or grade 4 in SL Maths Application and Interpretation must be obtained plus a minimum of grade 4 in English A or 5 in English B

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Maths grade 4, English Language grade 4
