This MA fosters evidence-based practice, encouraging you to make direct and meaningful connections between the course and your own experiences and aspirations. It engages you with key and contemporary issues in education, in the UK and globally, and broadens your knowledge of educational ideas and research findings, prompting you to identify and justify recommendations for further action. This places you in the best position to develop your work as a classroom practitioner or leader, usually in schools, the lifelong-learning sector and universities.

This course features four core modules:
Citizenship and welfare in the 21st century – Investigate issues in social justice related to education, citizenship and welfare including diversity and human rights.
Education and international development – The sociological, political and economic factors that influence and shape education systems in different countries.
Research methods in the workplace – Build advanced research skills, working through the process of conducting research in an educational workplace setting.
Dissertation – Conduct a substantial, independent piece of research, showing a deep understanding of issues in an area of professional interest.
You also choose from three optional modules:
Early years education and care – Examine children’s development and learning in the early years from different theoretical perspectives.
Meeting diverse needs – Understand the range of needs that students can present with, and how educational settings can respond to these needs.
Theories of learning for educators – Explore a wide range of theories of learning and how they have influenced policy and practice in education.
