If you’re curious about how brands grab attention, spark conversations and build loyal communities in a digital age, this course is your launchpad. The foundation year is designed to ease you into university life, giving you the confidence and skills to succeed. You’ll explore the basics of business, communication and digital tools while sharpening your creativity and problem‑solving abilities.

From there, you’ll step into the full degree, where marketing theory meets hands‑on practice. You’ll experiment with social media campaigns, explore how data shapes customer insights and learn how to design strategies that balance business goals with social impact. With live projects, industry collaborations and the chance to earn a CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing, you’ll graduate with both the knowledge and the credibility to stand out.

Your foundation year will give you a grounding in business and marketing, preparing you for your future studies.

In your first year, you will establish a solid foundation in marketing principles and explore how marketing operates within broader business contexts through practical projects.

The second year deepens your knowledge with specialised marketing theories and transferable skills supported by career-focused activities. You'll also have the opportunity to select optional modules to match your interests and career aspirations.

In your final year, you will advance into strategic thinking and leadership, with core modules that expand your expertise. You also have the chance to achieve an extra qualification for the CIM or participate in the CIM Pitch Challenge.

Assessment method

We use different assessment techniques in different modules and try to ensure all assessments reflect the types of work you will do after graduating. This may include multi-media portfolios, presentations, individual reports and more.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMP

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Grade 3 (or above) in Maths and English GCSE is required. Equivalent qualifications Key Skills Level 2, and Functional Skills Level 2, are also accepted.
