This course has been written to prepare students for the world of work as well as gaining an academic qualification. Relevant career options include: probation officer, police officer, prison officer, within the National Offender Management Service the Crown Prosecution Service, Disclosure and Barring Service or other judicial related occupations.
You will be taught by lecturers qualified in the subject along with guest speakers those with experience in the areas of your chosen career path.
You will study a range of core modules, including:
• Why Prison?
• Diversity, Crime and Justice
• Understanding Security and Policing in the 21st Century
• Drugs, Crime and Society
• Dissertation
Assessment will be via a combination of assignments including reports, group work, presentations and exams.
