Our master's degrees in advanced mechanical engineering science combine the traditional aspects of mechanical engineering with interdisciplinary subjects so you can specialise in a career you want.
You'll be exposed to modern issues in advanced mechanical engineering science and specialise in computational engineering and design. You'll explore the latest techniques, methods and simulation software used in computational engineering and design. This will give you accurate insights into how innovative design ideas will work in practice and how to apply them effectively with industry.
This course is ideal if you are an engineering, mathematics or physical science graduate who wants to be challenged academically.
Compulsory modules include: Introduction to Advanced Mechanical Engineering Science; Numerical Methods; Advanced Computational Methods I; Design Search and Optimisation (DSO) - Principles, Methods, Parameterizations and Case Studies ; MSc Research Project
Optional modules include: Finite Element Analysis in Solid Mechanics; Advanced Finite Element Analysis; Aircraft Structural Design; Computational Methods in Biomedical Engineering Design; Applications of CFD; Advanced Partial Differential Equations

English language: Band C, IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.
This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.
