Software Engineering with Foundation Year

Our integrated foundation degrees are for those of you who possess the capability to pursue a degree but do not have the pre-requisite qualifications to directly apply to your desired course. The duration of the foundation element is one year, and, if you successfully pass, you will automatically progress on to the degree.
From commercial activities like shopping online, to use by government departments, in manufacturing processes, or for personal use, computer software plays a huge role in a host of industries and activities.

With a degree in Software Engineering, you could be involved in finding solutions to some of the challenges society faces, from climate change to transportation or clean water and sanitation. As industries develop, the possibilities, and requirements of software engineering change rapidly too, meaning career options are endless and your related earning potential significant. Our Software Engineering course aims to give you an understanding of what's possible and where your skills could take you.

An advanced subject, the course will see you write software which involves computer science and mathematical concepts, with successful completion potentially introducing you to a range of post-university career opportunities.

Sharing a common second year with other courses (Computing Bsc (Hons), Computer Science BSc (Hons) and Software Engineering MEng), this degree offers flexibility, transfer from one course to another during your second year. This allows you to tailor your studies to your specific interests.
