Course summary

Our PhD/MPhil Psychiatry programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Psychiatry.

Our academics have internationally outstanding knowledge and expertise in conducting research studies in child and adolescent, adult and old age psychiatry.

Particular strengths include:

  • Severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (including the prodromal stages of these conditions);

  • Dementia;

  • Depression;

  • Anxiety disorders;

  • Personality disorders;

  • Autism spectrum disorder;

  • Attachment disorders;

  • Self-harm and suicide;

  • Homicide and other forms of interpersonal violence;

  • Forensic psychiatry;

  • Neurobiological and imaging studies;

  • Psychiatric epidemiology.
