Course summary

Run in collaboration with Dundee & Angus College, where in year 1 you will undertake the HNC in Social Sciences, this course gives you the opportunity to secure an advanced level 2 entry place at the University of Dundee following the successful completion of this initial collaborative year.

The Humanities MA Degree structure at Dundee allows you to acquire a broad and deep education in the traditional Humanities (English, History, Philosophy) as well as areas of particular contemporary concern (Film Studies, Gender, Sexuality and Culture). We also offer specialisms in creative practice (Creative Writing, Comics Studies) and European Philosophy. Many of our students also enhance their studies by taking one or more languages alongside their main subject.

The MA provides a framework that offers not just in-depth study in individual subject areas, but an opportunity to make links across the Humanities and the Social Sciences (for example Politics, International Relations, Psychology, Geography, Economics) so you can work in more interdisciplinary ways.

From the start of this course, you will become a University of Dundee student with full access to all of our resources and facilities. On successful completion of year 1 you will transfer directly into year 2 of the Humanities degree course of your choice at the University of Dundee.

Contextual admissions

Universities and colleges consider more than grades when assessing applications and may make offers based on a range of criteria. Learn more about contextual offers.

Achieving a strong set of qualifications is key to earning a place at the University. We understand grades are influenced by things outside your control, such as the impact of deprivation where you live. That’s why each year we look at each student's application in detail including circumstances outside of your control that may have impacted your potential.
