Course summary

The Motorsport Management degree at UWTSD gives you a strong understanding of both the technical and business sides of the motorsport industry. The course brings together key elements of business management, preparing you to oversee the running and development of motorsport teams.

Throughout your degree, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of how motorsport teams operate, from business management and logistics to the technical knowledge needed within the industry. Thanks to the university’s strong industry links, you’ll have opportunities to work on live projects with professional teams and industry partners.

On this course, you’ll develop a mix of business, technical, and industry-specific skills tailored to the world of racing and automotive sports. You’ll study areas such as sports marketing, event management, sponsorship, and team operations, while also exploring motorsport regulations, governance, and the global business landscape. Practical experience forms a key part of your studies, from organising live events and working with racing teams or circuits to collaborating with sponsors and media partners. Alongside technical and management learning, you’ll also build communication, leadership, and analytical skills that prepare you for careers with motorsport teams, governing bodies, venues, and motorsport-related companies.

You’ll have access to state-of-the-art specialist facilities including a rolling road, a range of racing vehicles, simulators for testing projects, and diagnostic equipment. There’s also a 24-hour computer suite dedicated to Motorsport courses.

In your final year, you’ll work alongside industry partners on live, industry-based projects that often lead to real-world outcomes within motorsport. Graduates from the course have gone on to work with companies such as Motorsport UK, Motorsport Industry Association, British Association of Race Circuits, British Racing and Sports Car Club to name a few.

As a Motorsport Management student at UWTSD, you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with our in-house race teams, gaining valuable hands-on trackside experience in team management.
