Course summary

If you have an interest in business and business management and want more time before Year 1 to further develop your skills, then this course is ideal for you. Our foundation year is a preparatory year as a part of a four-year BSc (Hons) Business Management course. It will introduce you to fundamental principles of academic practice and equip you with research and development skills aligned with business management in the creative industries.

Through inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and practical writing, you'll develop cognitive and intellectual skills that underpin your progression to advanced learning. You'll acquire communication, entrepreneurial, and professional skills, setting you up for success in your career. The course is primarily academic and theory-based but includes creative thinking, visual and verbal presentation, and digital media skills to provide vital transferable skills. By the end of the first year, you'll have a solid foundation in business management applied to the creative industries and an understanding of how organizations evolve for future sustainable growth.

Progressing into this four-year course, you will have the opportunity to refine your skills in management, strategy, and research while still focusing on contemporary operating models in the creative industry context. Live project briefs, a Business Lecture series, and the opportunity for work-based learning within the creative industries will give you the tools to succeed.
