Course summary

Begin to understand the therapeutic experience through academic expertise and develop a path to advance to further study with our Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology. You will combine learning theory with practice to gain a strong base in both counselling and psychology.

You will blend a learning of theory and practice to build a strong academic base in counselling and psychology.
Together we focus on the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client, concentrating on the personal subjective experience of the whole person.

You will investigate person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural theories and use practical modes from case studies, interviews and personal diaries.

Your learning will emphasise the connection between psychological theory and counselling. We want you to understand how to effectively apply knowledge to ensure that you promote psychological development in practise.

If you are planning on further related graduate work, whether through our Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or a related profession, this programme will be ideal preparation.

You might already have an undergraduate degree in an unrelated field and want to move towards psychology. You can use this certificate as a bridge to further study in counselling psychology.
