Course summary

BA (Hons) Live Events Production will prepare you for an exciting career in live experience and entertainment by introducing you to the technical, design and management areas of live events.

Following the award of New Degree Awarding Powers (NDAPs), the Academy is reviewing its courses to ensure they remain current, relevant, and aligned with industry and academic standards. As part of this process (called Periodic Review), elements of course content, delivery, or assessment may be updated.

Where any changes may affect your studies, we will provide clear information in advance and offer opportunities for feedback where appropriate.

In your first year, you’ll gain a strong understanding across a range of technical, creative and production management disciplines. In the second year, you will choose two subject areas to focus on. In your third year, you’ll choose just one pathway to specialise in.

With four distinct pathways for you to choose from, you can choose to specialise in the following areas:

  • Lighting for live events

  • Live sound

  • Live visuals

  • Event business

Whether you’re interested in lighting a stage, projecting stunning visuals or running an events business, this degree allows you to focus on your chosen subject area whilst developing an underpinning knowledge of all four key areas. You’ll graduate as a specialised yet well rounded live events professional.

Modules

Assessment method

Assessment is by portfolio, group practical, presentation and (where appropriate) a supporting piece of work relevant to the module. All assessments are based around you evidencing your skills and experience, reflecting upon how you are developing both professionally and personally and are a useful tool for you to set goals and targets.

You will also be expected to research methods and practices that are not covered in the module, and to relate and compare these to your learning.

Other work relevant to the module might include a stage design and layout, a festival event plan or perhaps a lighting design and visualisation.
