Course summary

This one year course will allow you to further develop your skills and knowledge in this fast growing niche in the design industry. It will give you the opportunity to study and apply advanced skills in visual merchandising and promotional design, whilst specialising in an area of retail design that could include fashion promotion and styling, retail interior design, retail promotional graphics, retail events and planning.

The course is designed to allow you to be more independent in your study whilst exploring a more focused area in which to gain employment or further study at MA level.

You will explore your creative thinking to develop innovative design solutions, and will enjoy working on specialist industry briefs, which will allow you to work with clients and enhance your employability.

The course also includes the designing and installation of a final project displayed through a public exhibition, as well as compiling a practical and innovative industry design portfolio. An integral part of this course lies in gaining experience of real working life within the design industry. You will be given the opportunity to gain work experience via ‘live’ briefs, realistic project briefs, international competition briefs and industry talks as well as work experience opportunities within the Industry Context module.
