Course summary

From Grimsby to the World: Your Journey in Tourism Starts Here.

The FdA in Tourism Management at UCG is designed for individuals who are passionate about travel, culture, and customer experience — and who want to build a successful career in one of the world’s fastest-growing and most diverse industries. This course provides the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to progress within the global tourism sector, preparing graduates for both immediate employment and further academic study.

Tourism is a dynamic and resilient industry that plays a vital role in regional, national, and international economies. The programme reflects this by combining academic insight with hands-on experience, enabling students to develop a deep understanding of how tourism operates, how destinations are managed, and how customer experiences are designed and delivered.

This programme is ideal for students who are interested in people, places, and experiences, and who aspire to a career in sectors such as travel management, destination marketing, event coordination, visitor attraction management, heritage management or sustainable tourism development.

Programme aims and focus
The FdA Tourism Management aims to develop graduates with a solid grounding in business and management principles as they apply to tourism and related industries. Students will explore a broad range of themes, including tourism policy and planning, marketing and customer experience, sustainable destination management, digital innovation, and leadership within service-based organisations.

The programme emphasises employability and work-based learning, offering students opportunities to engage directly with local and regional and international employers, complete live projects, and gain valuable practical experience through industry placements. Students also develop skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and digital literacy, all of which are highly sought after by employers.

Access to HE Diploma - P: 45 credits

An interview will be required for those with non-comparable tourism/event-led qualifications.

Standard offer
Applicants will require 64 UCAS points in a tourism/business-related subject or 60 Access-to-HE Credits (of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3). Applicants are required to hold an English GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C/4.

Non-standard offer
Non-standard entry is intended to support students who may not meet the standard academic entry requirements of a HE programme, normally level 3 qualifications which attract UCAS points (for instance, A-levels or BTEC level 3 courses). An applicant must be able to demonstrate recent work/experience in the relevant sector, which would give them skills and knowledge comparable to applicants with Level 3 qualifications.
