About this course
This Higher National Certificate helps you gain key skills needed to start a career within the field of Computing, and on completion, consider progression to a Higher National Diploma here at Roehampton. This University course is approved by the Institute for Apprenticeship and Technical Education.
You will get a broad introduction to Computing through core learning units as well as specialist pathways such as Data Analytics, Network Engineering and Cyber Security, so that you can gain the key skills and experience needed across a range of occupational sectors.
Skills
You will develop your computing skills and knowledge through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. You will gain transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis.
During the course you will also develop specialised knowledge of programming, database design, software development and the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. Plus, you’ll be taught by a friendly, committed and qualified team of lecturers who have both professional and teaching experience.
You will finish the course with the expertise to work in computing roles across a huge range of organisations, with the confidence to lead, innovate, and respond to change and industry challenges.
Career opportunities
After completing this course you will be in a strong position for pursuing jobs within Computing including network engineering, software engineering, data analytics, security, intelligent systems, applications development and testing.
You may choose to progress to the Computing HND and commit to a specialist specific career path or on completion, progress to degree-level study.
